#ElectrifyTheWorld with Nissan

Basically, Nissan is offering a home electricity storage solution (the XStorage). You know those external batteries for your iPhone? Well it's the same thing, but to put in your home. What's the point, you'll ask? Quite simply to store energy at the times when it's rarest and cheapest, to use it whenever you like. It's also entirely possible to recharge them with solar for example, which makes the whole thing even more interesting.

Where the story is really cool is that Nissan actually uses the old batteries from their electric cars to make this home battery. A smart way to recycle the thing, no? To communicate about all this, Nissan opened a pop-up café in Paris for a few days. The idea was simple, rather than paying for your coffee with money, you could buy it by generating energy, using pedal machines and other innovative devices to produce electricity. All of this being, obviously, a pretext to best illustrate the energy value of a coffee, or of any everyday act of consumption. Useful communication to raise awareness of the energy challenges ahead, and a solution to help improve and optimize each person's individual management and relationship to electricity. It was all good. It was a nice evening, on my birthday no less. And we can't wait for the next one 🙂
